A New Franklin man has been charged with a felony for property damage in Howard County.

According to a probable cause statement, a Howard County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a residence where a victim stated that Jacob Brush had allegedly thrown a liquor bottle through a window of the victim’s work truck. It was also stated that Brush had thrown an object through the victim’s personal car window.

The victim and a witness stated that they were inside and heard commotion and proceeded outside to find the damage. Neither the victim nor the witness observed Brush outside the residence and Brush allegedly began to call and send hateful messages to the victim.

A Missouri State Trooper and the Sheriff’s Deputy later approached the residence of Brush. The deputy stated that he could smell intoxicants emanating from Brush. Brush was escorted to the deputy’s vehicle and Brush tried to pull away when the deputy tried to grab his wallet during a search.

After arriving at the Howard County Jail, Brush became agitated and aggressive. Brush refused to answer questions and also gave false statements. Once inside a booking cell Brush became violent and began kicking the door and yelling enough to cause a disturbance in the jail.

Brush was charged a felony for property damage as well as misdemeanors for trespassing and violating an order of protection.

Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety but was later revoked.

An arraignment was held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Howard County Circuit Court.
