
A Jamestown man has been charged with a felony in Cooper County after a traffic stop on Thursday, December 8, 2022.
According to a probable cause statement, a Cooper County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Colton Adams. Adams stated to the deputy that he and female passenger T. H. Adams were traveling to Columbia. During questioning, Colton Adams began to exhibit nervous behavior and refused to consent to a search of the vehicle.
A second deputy arrived on the scene and allowed the T.H. Adams to sit in the caged portion of his vehicle. A police service dog was deployed to search for drug odors on the vehicle. The service dog indicated the presence of a drug odor on the driver’s door.
A search of the vehicle found no contraband. After removing T.H. Adams from the vehicle, a routine search found two glass pipes with burnt residue located behind the back seat. T.H Adams was read Miranda Rights and stated that Colton Adams had handed her one pipe but declined knowing about the second. T.H Adams also stated that Colton Adams handed her a Ziploc bag containing a crystal substance and had concealed it.
The crystal substance later tested positive as methamphetamine with a weight of 16.94 grams
Colton Adams was charged with a felony for possession of a controlled substance.
Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. No court dates have been set.
