
Glenetta Burks, 82, of Slater, MO, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, surrounded by family and her dog Pumpkin.
Born June 10, 1940, in Glasgow, MO, she was the daughter of the late Roy Harold Adams and Elizabeth Neikamp Ackelberry. She lived in Slater most of her life and was a 1958 graduate of Slater High School. She worked at Slater Bag House for a few years until she became proprietor of B&G Lounge in Slater for 17 years. Then she worked at Slater High School as custodian for 10 years, retiring in 2010. She enjoyed carpentry, electrical work, sewing, quilting, playing cards, cooking, gardening and fishing. She especially enjoyed being with family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Allen Morton who survives of the home; two daughters, Glenda Sue Leaphart of Altoona, FL and Connie Jo Hughes (Dale) of Independence, MO; three grandchildren, Richard Wood (Sara), Kendall Brison (Jake) and Shannon Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Wood, Lane Brison and Brinlee Jo Brison; one sister, Roberta Knight (Ben Frazee) of Slater; one half-brother, Roy Adams of Mexico, MO; sister-in-law, Marilyn Adams of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Glenetta was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Lee Adams.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, at Rehoboth Cemetery in rural Slater, with Chaplain Harold Dinsmore officiating. There will be no visitation.
