The Glasgow Board of Aldermen approved the reduction of Glasgow High School’s water bill at a recent meeting. The water bill was originally in the amount of $15,851.68, with a reading of 1.6 million gallons used due to a leak.

After meeting with school officials earlier, the city clerk supplied the council with a a new billed price of $2,190.73. The council was asked to forgive $13,660.95 on the water bill and 1.4 million gallons of water loss. Alderman Joey Gibbs motioned to accept the new bill. Alderman Fred Foley seconded the motion.

In other news from the meeting, a representative of Schulte Supply presented the council with information regarding their Neptune Water Meter System. The cost per meter is $239.95 per residential meter and $1,500.00 for a two inch meter, depending on size and cost inflation. Antennas would be $30.00 per meter. The system would allow remote reading as well as manual reading. The new meters would cut the time it takes employees to read meters by 75 percent and allow consistent reading. The meters would store 96 days of data, pinpoint leaks and start time of the leaks. The meters could be remotely read daily and flag meters with abnormal water usage.
