
The Marshall Public Schools Board of Education approved a proposed minimum reserve amount during its meeting on Monday, December 19, 2022.
Superintendent Caleb Petet said the district is required to set a minimum reserve amount. Petet said the district currently has 22 percent in reserves, but there wasn’t a specific number set for the budget. Petet made a recommendation to set the minimum reserve amount at 20 percent.
Petet stated that at least $5.6 million of the $28 million budget will be set aside for the reserves. The board approved the proposed reserve.
In other news from the meeting, the board approved a motion to set a special meeting to act for or against the pursuit of a levy or bond. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
