A Sedalia woman has been charged with multiple felonies in Pettis County.

Sedalia Police Officers were called to a residence on South Grand Avenue in Sedalia on Monday, November 28, 2022 to a report of a burglary. In the list of items stolen were debit cards which showed payments to CashApp and Warrensburg Walmart. The victim’s car had also been taken and reported stolen later in the week.

On Thursday, December 1, 2022, Sedalia Police contacted Warrensburg Walmart to investigate the fraudulent transaction. Walmart provided a photograph of the suspect and a video of the vehicle driven by the suspect. The plate identified the stolen car. The photograph and video allowed police to identify Heather Reyes of Sedalia as the person involved in the transaction and driving the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in Henry County.

On Tuesday, December 6, 2022 police were notified that Reyes had moved out of her apartment and that while cleaning the apartment her boyfriend had found several cards with the victim’s name on them.

Police discovered that Reyes’ vehicle was frequently parked at a residence in the 1000 block of South Harrison. A search warrant was carried out on the residence on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 and while several items belonging to Reyes were found, she was not there. Reyes was later found and arrested. During a search during the arrest, a crystal like substance was found on Reyes that officers recognized as methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Reyes was charged with felonies for burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing and possession of a controlled substance as well as a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

An arraignment was held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 and a counsel status hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
