Connie Sue (Reed) Beecher, 70, of Sedalia, died Thursday, December 29th, 2022, at home, following a three-year battle with cancer.

She was born January 18th, 1952, in Sedalia, a daughter of the late Virgil and Cleola (Payne) Reed. On November 24th, 1973, at East Sedalia Baptist Church, she was united in marriage to Michael John Beecher, who survives of the home.

Connie was a 1970 graduate of Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia. She earned an Associate in Arts Degree from State Fair Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Central Missouri State University, and a Master of Human Services degree from Boston College. She taught in Sedalia School District 200 for 21 years, retiring in 2015. She taught 4th grade at Washington Elementary and 6th grade at Sedalia Middle School.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a dedicated Army wife, who made many sacrifices and contributions in support of her husband’s military service, including moving the family when Mike was away for training or overseas assignments. She loved to cook and was a good baker. Connie had served as a food provider for funeral meals at Sacred Heart Church, and was a volunteer with Bothwell Auxiliary at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Connie enjoyed reading, knitting, needlework and crafting. She was a person of good cheer who was always ready to help others, often doing sewing and hemming projects for anyone who asked. She knitted beautiful shawls and loved making items for babies. She enjoyed doing baking projects with her grandkids, as well as playing cards and board games with them. All in the family called her “Grammy”.

Also surviving are two children, Jennifer Ann Hubbs, of Sedalia, and Jonathan Reed Beecher (Dorothy), of Mexico, MO; a brother, Larry Reed (Suanne), of Bossier City, LA; a sister, Linda Decker (Larry), of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Norah, Charlotte, and Amelia Hubbs, of Sedalia, and John (Jack) and Reed Beecher, of Mexico.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, at Sacred Heart Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father Joe Corel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Beecher, Travis Snell, Jess Dowler, Carl Reque, Jeremy Fry and Chris Yeager. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Connie requested memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel
