
A Columbia man has been charged with multiple felonies after vehicle stop in Saline County on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
According to a probable cause statement, A Marshall Police Department Officer conducted a stop of a vehicle on West Arrow Street in Marshall due to what appeared to the officer as a domestic incident between a male driver and a female passenger. The Officer also observed no front plate on the vehicle.
The Officer requested the driver produce a a driver’s license to which he stated he did not have one.
While in the Officer’s vehicle, a search of the drivers non-driver identification card identified him as Sterling Blakely. The license plate of the vehicle was found to belong to different vehicle but not reported stolen. Blakely advised the Officer he had found the license plate and put it on his vehicle. Blakely’s driving privileges were also found to have been revoked.
During a search of the vehicle, the Officer found a silver colored round container. After opening the container, the officer found a clear, plastic package which contained four round orange colored pills. A second package was found to contain a clear, hard substance that allegedly appeared to be methamphetamine.
The hard substance was found to be methamphetamine after testing, but the orange pills did not register any drug. During an online search, the Officer identified the pills as alleged Clonazepem.
According to court documents, Blakely was charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance, forgery and driving while revoked.
Bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety.
An arraignment was held on Friday, December 30, 2022 and a confined docket hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Saline County Circuit Court.
