The Develop Saline County Advisory Board held a discussion over the equal distribution of funds to cities in the county during its meeting on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Becky Plattner asked the other board members why Arrow Rock was receiving an equal amount of funding compared to the cities of Slater, Sweet Springs, and Marshall.

Plattner said she thought more money should be allocated to cities that generate more sales tax.

Greg Swift said money is used to promote tourism in Arrow Rock. Swift says Arrow Rock brought in about 135,000 in last year.

Plattner pointed out that there are only a few businesses in Arrow Rock that charge sales tax. She said the money could be used to help fund other projects in the county as well.

Plattner hopes the board can rethink the allocation of that money to make it more fair for other cities in Saline County.
