An Independence man was charged with multiple felonies in Johnson County has a court appearance scheduled.

According to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, on June 14, 2021 the Sheriff’s Department responded to a call near Kingsville, for a reported shooting. Two victims had left the residence and driven to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to one of the victims.

The victims stated to law enforcement during an interview that Deontae Hall and a co-defendent allegedly robbed the victims for marijuana. During the robbery, Hall allegedly shot one of the victims twice, once in the leg and once in the stomach.

According to court documents, Hall was charged with first degree assault, robbery and armed criminal action. No bond has been set.

Hall was arraigned on Monday, December 5, 2022. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 at Johnson County Circuit Court.
