The Slater City Council updated its marijuana code to comply with state statute during its meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

The council passed the first and second readings of bills that will update the city’s marijuana code and prevent marijuana use in public places.

The council held a discussion over full definition of public place, and will consider drafting another amendment to further define it.

In other news, the council considered the idea of putting a question for a tax on marijuana sales in city limits on the ballot for a future election. The council decided to table that idea and fully discuss it in a future meeting.
