The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has awarded approximately $2.6 million in funding for construction of electric vehicle charging stations. The projects will complete Missouri’s highway charging network plan under the Volkswagen Trust.
Francis Energy in Sedalia is one of the recipients.
The department accepted applications from local government and businesses located near specific highway intersections. The department received more than 40 applications during the most recent application period. A list of ten awardees and details about the funding program are available on the department’s website at https://dnr.mo.gov/air/what-were-doing/volkswagen-trust-funds/electric-vehicle-charging.
DNR held a series of meetings with a citizen stakeholder group. Stakeholders helped identify viable charging station sites across the state located near highway intersections. In addition to twelve sites already established, ten new awards fulfill the highway network plan and will likely fully utilize the Volkswagen Trust funding dedicated to charging infrastructure.
