The University of Central Missouri (UCM) has appointed Kathy Anderson as interim Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. Anderson was appointed after Jerry Hughes, who had served UCM athletics for more than 40 years passed on January 21, 2023.

Anderson was an All-America student-athlete at UCM who played for the Jennies basketball team and is a member of the UCM Athletic Hall of Fame. She joined UCM Intercollegiate Athletics in 2005. She has held the positions of Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations. She has been Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics since last year and is the Senior Woman Administrator in athletics.

Anderson was women’s basketball coach at California State-Fullerton from 1980-1985 and assistant basketball coach at the University of Washington from 1985-1996, and served as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at the University of Washington from 1996-1998.

Anderson lettered for four years in basketball, three years in softball and one year in track and field at UCM before graduating in 1980. She was a second-team Academic All-American in 1979-1980 and was honored as UCM Outstanding Female Student Athlete in 1980. Anderson was named to the Jennies Basketball All-Decade Team for 1970-1980.

Anderson also served as assistant basketball coach for the WNBA Phoenix Mercury in 1998 and Seattle Storm in 2000.
