
The Marshall City Council heard first readings involving ordinances for the purchase of material and work to improve city streets during its meeting on Monday, February 6, 2023.
The first ordinance discussed at the meeting involved the purchase of paving fabric from Vance Brothers, Inc. The bid for the paving fabric is $4.51 per square yard. In the second proposed ordinance, slurry seal would be done by Vance Brothers at a cost of $4.28 per square yard.
Capital Paving, LLC. is the bid being considered for approval for cold milling of certain city streets at a cost of $2.33 per square yard. Capital Paving, LLC also has the bid for asphalt concrete overlay work on city streets. The bid for the overlay is $135.35 per ton.
The first reading of the ordinances was approved and a second reading will need to be approved by the council at the next meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 for final passage of the ordinances.. If approved the work would begin in the spring of 2023.
In other news from the meeting, the council approved appointments to the Marshall Tourism Commission due to recent resignations. Jarron Tetteh was appointed to fill the remainder of a term expiring in June 2023 and Andrea Barr was appointed to finish a term ending in June 2024.
