The Saline County Career Center Future Business Leaders of America is taking part in the annual FBLA Week. Governor Michael Parson has declared February 5 – 11, 2023 as FBLA Week. This weeklong celebration is held in February during Career and Technical Education month and is recognized by chapters throughout the United States. The governor encouraged all Missourians to support their local FBLA chapters during FBLA Week.

To celebrate FBLA Week, the SCCC FBLA Chapter has designed daily activities and has welcomed the entire Marshall High School student body to participate in the events:

-Tuesday, February 7 – Tuesday Talks (members share FBLA facts);
-Wednesday, February 8 – Work Wednesday (members take part in tours of Sedalia businesses);
-Thursday, February 9 – Thoughtful Thursday; (wear blue and gold and make Thoughtful Chain links to promote kindness); and
-Friday, February 10 -Fundraising Friday (wear purple or green and raise money for the March of Dimes.)

The SCCC FBLA Chapter has 41 members in grades 9 through 12 at the Saline County Career Center. The chapter conducts many community service projects throughout the year, holds monthly memberships meetings, allows students to attend business related field trips and members practice to compete in competitive events at the annual District 19 Leaderships Conference.

Missouri FBLA-PBL has nearly 9,000 members in 400 chapters across the state, making it the second largest chapter nationally. Missouri FBLA members are active at district, state and national levels. The organization is hosted by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Jefferson City, Mo., under the direction of the Supervisor of Business Education for the State. FBLA-PBL inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. Intracurricular activities include career exploration, civic service, economic education and technical skill advancement. FBLA-PBL also works to encourage and support entrepreneurship.
