Lorene M. Coufal, 87, died peacefully Monday, February 20, 2023, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp, MO.

She was born May 23, 1935, in Smithton MO, daughter of the late Louis Francis and Johanna Adline (Weller) Klein.  She married Raymond Coufal at Sacred Heart Church, Sedalia, on May 23, 1956.  He preceded her in death in February 2014.

Lorene was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in 1952 and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.  She had a cleaning business at one point in her life.  She enjoyed crafting and made a business of that gift by selling various items she made to vendors in the Kansas City area. She enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching reproduction samplers.  She loved animals, especially cats: Punkin, being her latest cat.  She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her three children:  Carolyn M. Coufal of Lee’s Summit MO, Julie Childers, and her husband, Russell, and Gregory R. Coufal, and his fiancé, Lisa Whittington, all of Sedalia MO.  Two grandchildren Devin R. Childers and Brianna L. Childers, both of Overland Park KS.  and a sister, Ruby Mettler of Duncan OK and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and siblings:  Leonard Klein, Rosemary Becker, Ralph Klein, Betty Burford and Charles Klein.

No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
