The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved an ordinance to terminate and dissolve tax increment financing within the Interstate 70 Interchange Redevelopment Area during its meeting on Monday, March 6, 2023.

City Administrator Jeanette Dobson stated the agreement terminated in June of 2022.

The original agreement was entered into in 1999.

In other news from the meeting, board approved an ordinance authorizing the city to purchase fireworks for the annual Fourth of July celebration which are reimbursed by the Higginsville Chamber of Commerce through donations. The Lion’s Club of Higginsville puts on the display.
