The Marshall High School (MHS) Jazz Band will share the stage with the highly acclaimed Central Methodist University (CMU) Concert Band at 7 p.m Thursday, March 9, 2023 in the Harold L. Lickey Auditorium at Bueker Middle School.

The MHS Jazz Band, under the direction of Sara Summers, will open the concert with energized and classic Count Basie “swing style” selections as well as a smooth, Latin samba featuring high school junior Trevan Jolliff on trombone.

The CMU Concert Band will then take the stage and perform several selections from their annual band tour repertoire. This will be the final semester Professor Roy Vanderlicht will direct the CMU Band as he will be retiring later in the spring. He has directed CMU bands since 2008 after completing 31 years as band director at Fayette High School.

Two alumni of the MHS Band Program are currently in the CMU Concert Band. Jaxson Grossenburg on trombone and Cory Edmonds on string bass both graduated from MHS in 2021.
