The Johnson County Commission is reminding businesses in Johnson County that the county-wide sales tax rate will increase by one-half cent effective April 1, 2023.

Voters approved the additional sales tax on the November 2022 ballot for the purpose of 911 dispatching services, replacing radio towers and communication equipment, and the establishment of a countywide public safety radio communications system to support reliable dispatching of 911 calls for services to all emergency services of Johnson County.

The additional funding will also improve communication reliability necessary for public and emergency responder safety. The ballot question included a sunset of December 31, 2023.
