A St. Louis man has been charged with three felonies after the Saline County Sheriff’s Department investigated an unknown and stolen vehicle.

According to a probable cause statement, authorities investigated the Nissan Sentra, which parked in a residence yard in Marshall. The vehicle was allegedly stolen out of Lenexa, Kansas. Authorities also located a handgun in the vehicle.

Authorities also made contact with a suspicious person walking in the area of the stolen vehicle, who identified himself as Ryan Eastling. Eastling admitted to being the driver of the stolen vehicle, but claimed it was stolen.

Eastling stated to authorities that he drove a friend from St. Louis to Kansas City in his girlfriend’s vehicle. Eastling said that his girlfriend’s vehicle broke down in Kansas City, where he said an unknown person offered the Nissan. Eastling took the Nissan and reportedly stopped in Marshall on his way back to St. Louis, where he was eventually found by the sheriff’s department.

A search of Eastling revealed two small baggies of methamphetamine wrapped in a Taco Bell receipt. Eastling is currently on parole for robbery in the first degree and armed criminal action.

Court documents say Eastling is charge with felonies for tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash only.

Eastling has a confined docket hearing scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15; and a preliminary hearing set for 1:30 p.m. March 22 at Saline County Circuit Court.
