A Knob Noster man has been charged a felony for domestic assault after an incident on March 9, 2023.

According to a probable cause statement, a Saline County Sheriff Deputy was dispatched to a residence in Slater after a woman called 911 and reported that she had been assaulted by Justin Peterman.

The victim told the deputy that the altercation began when she got into an argument with Peterman, when he then began to put an extension cord around her neck and choked her. The victim also stated that Peterman swung and struck her left cheek with his fist. The woman also said she had injuries of previous assaults. The deputy noticed a laceration on the woman’s finger.

The deputy made contact with Peterman, who denied assaulting the woman. He stated that the woman was flailing and throwing things after their argument. Peterman was arrested and taken to the Saline County Jail without incident.

Court documents say that Peterman is charged with a felony for domestic assault in the second degree, as well as a misdemeanor for domestic assault in the fourth degree. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only.

Peterman has an initial appearance scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 14 at Saline County Circuit Court.
