The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Music Arts program will present instrumental and vocal concerts on separate nights. The Jazz and Concert bands will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 and the Contemporary and Chamber Choirs will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16. The March 16 concert will feature a performance by the Smith-Cotton High School Concert Chorale. Both events will take place in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.

On Tuesday, March 14, the Jazz Band performance will feature four selections that include recognizable classics such as “St. Thomas,” written by saxophonist Sonny Rollins, Duke Ellington’s “In a Mellow Tone,” W.C Handy’s “St. Louis Blues,” and the popular tune “Old Time Rock and Roll.”

The Concert Band will perform “Afterburn” by Randall Standridge as well as “Air for Band’ by Frank Erickson, “As Summer Was Just Beginning” by Larry Daehn and “March Grandioso” by Roland Seitz.

On Thursday, March 16, the SFCC Contemporary And Chamber Choirs will be joined by the Smith-Cotton High School Chorale. The SFCC Chamber choirs will each perform three songs. Selections will include “Till There Was You” and “The Gift to Sing,” by Marianne Forman. The Smith-Cotton Chorale will perform two songs and all choirs will perform together “We Are the Music Makers,” by Reginal Wright.

Admission to both concerts is free on a first come, first serve basis.
