State Fair Community College (SFCC) will host a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) seminar to help adults learn how to support young people in their lives. The seminar uses a blended format. The first two-hour self-paced session will be delivered online. The remaining four and one half hours will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 in the Yeater Learning Center, Room 140 on the Sedalia campus.

The seminar teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18. Tips on how to connect adolescents to appropriate support will be presented. The seminar consists of six and a half hours of YMHFA content, Participants who complete the online session first and then attend the session on campus will receive a certificate of completion.
