A male subject was found deceased at a natural cover fire, northeast of Warrensburg on March 15.

Johnson County Fire Protection District personnel responded for the report of a field fire in the 300 block of Northeast V Highway in rural Johnson County at approximately 2:35 p.m. While extinguishing the natural cover fire, the male was found deceased. An ATV that appeared to have been involved in a crash was also located in the area.

The deceased was identified as 72-year-old Don Zink, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner’s Office.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Johnson County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident. More information about the Johnson County Fire Protection District can be found online at www.jcfpd.net.
