Fayette man has been charged with two felonies after an incident on Monday, March 13, 2023.

According to a probable cause statement, A Fayette Police Officer was dispatched to a residence at approximately 10:30 p.m. in reference to woman needing help. As the officer approached the residence, a male subject identified as Dalton Barney approached. Barney stated that the woman did not want him there and the officer asked him if he would leave to which he replied yes.. The officer entered the residence and began speaking with the female victim. The woman stated Barney had allegedly entered the bedroom and punched the television and spit on her.

The officer left the residence and attempted to place Barney under arrest. The officer and a deputy, who had arrived on the scene, gave multiple warnings after Barney began to resist. Authorities were eventually able to arrest Barney and transported him to the Howard County Jail. At the jail, Barney began to resist again after handcuffs were removed to place him in a cell. He was eventually placed in the cell by authorities.

According to court documents, Barney has been charged with felonies for burglary and resisting arrest as well as a misdemeanor for domestic assault.

Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only.

Barney had initial arraignment on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 and a bond review hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Howard County Circuit Court.
