City Administrator J.D. Kehrman gave an update on questions on the legality of certain city operations during the Marshall City Council meeting on Monday, March 20,2023.

According to Kehrman, questions had been raised about the rate being charged for trash service over the base rate being illegal, whether transfer of sanitation funds to street funds is illegal and violations of sunshine laws.

In other news from the meeting, the council approved Quality Lawn Care for lawn mowing service at the city offices, Martin Center and municipal court building. The cost for the service is $125 per mowing. The council also approved E-Z Green Pro Turf Management to do fertilization and treatment at a cost of $1,212.
