Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies were allegedly fired upon by a male burglary suspect at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and Mystical Lane on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Deputies returned fire and struck the suspect multiple times. Deputies contacted Morgan County E-911 after securing the suspect. The suspect was declared deceased at the scene. Both deputies were uninjured.

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to conduct an independent investigation of the incident. The deputies were placed on administrative leave per department policy and are cooperating with the investigation.
