The Sedalia Police Department detained a juvenile who allegedly attacked an officer with a knife.
According to the department, officers were dispatched to a Sedalia residence in reference to an armed robbery on April 8. An anonymous person reportedly called 911 and said they had been robbed at gunpoint. The caller provided a description and advised that he was running from the area.
The Sedalia Police Department claims that the caller initiated an emergency response in preparation to assault officers in an apparent suicide attempt.
A Sedalia officer arrived to the scene and found the suspect walking in the roadway. The juvenile subject produced a knife and refused all commands from the officer.
The juvenile and the officer engaged in a struggle over the knife, before a good Samaritan helped the officer hold the subject down. Sedalia officers, Pettis County deputies, and Missouri State Troopers came to the scene to take the juvenile to custody without further incident.
The officer sustained a minor injury in the incident, with the knife having struck his patrol vest. The juvenile subject was transported to Bothwell Hospital for treatment, and then taken to DYS custody.
