
Roger Dale Newton, 71, of Marshall, MO, died Friday, April 7, 2023, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. There will be a potluck dinner (bring a covered dish) after the burial at Hill Top Shelter House at Indian Foothills Park. Memorials are suggested to the family. Born November 22, 1951, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Bernard Cecil Newton and Susie Mae Jolliff Newton Shields. On February 21, 1976, in Marshall, he married Sheryl Ann Card who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall his entire life and attended Marshall High School. He was a truck driver for many years and a member of Life Church in Marshall. He loved anything to do with cars or trucks including working on race cars and old cars and participating in demolition derbies, He enjoyed going to flea markets, swap shop, playing PokéMon and especially spoiling his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife Sheryl; one daughter, Michelle Garrison (John) of Marshall; six grandchildren, Sarah Dietz (Denver), Cherrie Surface, Shannon Arndt (Bobby), Christopher Garrison, Alley Wilson (Geno) and Kayla Walker (Jeremy) all of Marshall; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dennis Smith (Kim) of Cole Camp, MO; one sister, Linda Kay Bellamy (Ronnie) of Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Kay Newton in infancy and Sheryl Surface; two brothers, Robert and Donald Newton; two sisters, Betty Louise Newton in infancy and Shirley Edde; and stepfather, Raymond Shields.
