Representatives from the area towns and cities gave updates on new project submissions to the Develop Saline County Advisory board during its meeting on Wednesday, April 12.

Kirby McCullough, from Arrow Rock, detailed a list of economic development grant applications for the village in 2023. He went through nine total projects, with the requested amount totaling $270,734.84.

The projects McCullough listed include the water tower improvements, Persimmon Creek, Missouri River Bird Observatory, Catalpa, Juneteenth, the Lyceum Theatre, Voices of Arrow Rock, Experience Arrow Rock, and Friends of Arrow Rock.

Gene Griffith listed several projects the city of Slater is looking to complete for the year. This includes $107,060 for roof projects, $10,000 for a permanent grandstand, and $156,768 for sewer lining.

The city of Nelson is requesting $30,000 to put into the city’s general fund. The city borrowed the money from the general fund to complete some street work.

Malta Bend is requesting $23,000 to replace water meters.

Miami is requesting $16,000 to repair a water leak underneath an intersection and around $9,000 for a fence at the community center. Mount Leonard has requested $4,100 for roadwork and improvements to City Hall.

The board will consider approval for these projects at its next meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 12, 2023.
