Marshall Mayor Vince Lutterbie delivered a proclamation to recognize the 100th anniversary of Fitzgibbon Hospital.

It was Lutterbie’s first proclamation as mayor, as the hospital celebrated its 100th anniversary by opening a time capsule that was placed at the site of the original Fitzgibbon Hospital 100 years ago. This time capsule was discovered during the demolition of that hospital.

Lutterbie delivered his proclamation prior to the capsule being opened.

The contents in the time capsule included old newspapers from 1921, pictures of the old hospital and the groundbreaking at the site, John Fitzgibbon’s will, and some coins.

The hospital plans to place another time capsule in the Summer 2023.
