The Missouri FFA Association awarded the Marshall FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award. Marshall placed 20th out of 355 chapters. Only 10 percent of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year.
The Marshall FFA growing leaders activities included Huston Mull Scholarship Dinner. Members sell ten tickets and volunteer their time at the community dinner. The event was started in honor of a young man who had a passion for agriculture and helping others. Raised proceeds were designated to helping students further their education in an agriculture related field.
The National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. Chapters improve operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasize growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. The Marshall FFA advisors are Megan Kiser, McKalie Lorenz, and Hannah Viets.
Building communities activities included With Locked Arms We Celebrate Armistice Day. Members celebrated local veterans with an appreciation ceremony and breakfast open to the entire school.
Chapter activities in the strengthening agriculture category included Crushing Recruitment. Members sold crush grams which included a crush soda and motivational quote. Crush grams were bought and gifted to recruit students to join the chapter. The chapter set a goal to increase their membership by 50 members.
The top chapters in Missouri will compete for the National FFA Chapter Award. Winners will be announced this fall at the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.
