A Warrensburg man has been charged with several felonies after firing several shots at another man on April 9, 2023.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred when the victim agreed to sell marijuana to a female subject at his residence. However, multiple subjects in ski masks with handguns arrived at the victim’s residence in the same car.

The victim went out to approach the vehicle, when one of the subjects, later identified at 18-year-old Daniel Valazquez, raised an AR-styled rifle toward the victim. The victim grabbed the barrel of the rifle and caused a struggle, before fleeing into his residence and closing his door. Four shots were fired through his door, before the car sped away.

After an investigation , authorities located and arrested Valazquez on April 20.

Court documents say Valazquez is charged with felonies for first degree assault, armed criminal action, first degree attempted robbery, and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle at a person.

Valazquez had an initial appearance on Monday, April 24.
