
William Herman “Bill” Lohr, 78, of Mt. Vernon, MO, formerly of Marshall, MO, died peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon.
Graveside service with military rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Miami Cemetery in Miami, MO, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans for veteran’s transportation service. Born May 30, 1944 in Hennipen County, MN, he was the son of the late Bernard Herman Lohr and Vergie Sanders Lohr. Bill served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following service life, he became a self-employed over the road truck driver, traveling the United States extensively. On June 27, 1987, he married Judith Marie “Judy” Fuemmeler Meloy who preceded him in death on August 2, 2006. Bill was an avid reader of literature and also enjoyed planning for a hydroponic gardening distribution when he retired.
Bill is survived by his son, Alvie Lohr (Sarah) of Hutchison, KS; daughter, Tamra Lemley (Kyle) of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Logan, Caleb, Nathan and Madeline Lemley, Elizabeth Shultz and Sharon Emery Lohr; younger sister, Geraldine “Jeri” Heller-Cook of Lenexa, KS; half-sisters, Alice Schulke of Independence, MO and Rebecca Deason of Blue Springs, MO; three stepsons; many nieces and nephews; and a god son.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his older sisters, Vergie Marie Stewart and Lillian Bernice Steffen; and older brother, Bernard Henry Lohr.
