Gage Davis of the Marshall FFA Chapter placed third in the creed speaking leadership development event at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention. Sixteen students from six districts were selected to compete at the state level. The Marshall FFA advisors are Megan Kiser, McKalie Lorenz, and Hannah Viets.
The competition requires contestants to recite the FFA Creed. Speakers then answer a series of questions based on their interpretation of the creed. A panel of judges determines each participant’s score. Participating FFA members gain self-confidence, sharpen their ability to think quickly and hone presentation skills. Missouri Army National Guard and Missouri Army ROTC sponsors the event.
The Missouri FFA Association awarded the Marshall FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award. Marshall placed 20th out of 355 chapters. Only 10 percent of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year.
The Missouri FFA has 26,716 members representing 356 chapters. The national organization has more than 850,000 members representing 8,995 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
