Aaron Wilcox of Higginsville won the Missouri FFA Food Service Proficiency Award at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention.

Wilcox’s supervised agricultural experience program includes working as a manager at McDonald’s. His responsibilities include preparing and cooking food and performing quality customer service.

The Higginsville FFA Chapter placed third in the farm management career development event at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 47 teams in the competition.

The team members are Kenzie Lee, Lynn Dyer, Kinley Lilleman, and Annika Riekhof. Lee placed 9th, Dyer placed 17th, Lilleman placed 27th, and Riekhof placed 99th out of 177 participants. The Higginsville FFA advisors are Adam Brock and Savannah Taylor.

Individuals in this contest analyzed real-life business problems and completed a detailed exam to prove their understanding of economic principles. Participants used what they learned in their agricultural business classes to compete. Skills the students apply in the event will help them face even greater challenges in their professional lives.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
