Ali Reid of Concordia, Missouri, won the Missouri FFA Service-Learning Proficiency Award at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention.

She is a member of the Concordia FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Amanda Reid.

Reid’s supervised agricultural experience program stemmed from seeing the impact of food insecurity within her community. To help address this problem, Reid started the Backsnacks program at her local elementary school, which involves packing and delivering snacks to children experiencing food insecurity. Quickly, the program expanded to the high school and then to families looking for additional aid during the holiday season by prepping and cooking turkeys.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Service-learning is one of the 46 proficiency award areas recognized at state level. This award is sponsored by North Central Missouri College-Tipton, Barton Farm Campus.
