A Salisbury man has been charged with numerous felonies after an incident that allegedly happened in October 2022.

According to the Salisbury Police Department, four minor children were interviewed at the Child Safe Advocacy Center in Sedalia in March 2023. The children described the event, where their father, Nicholas Schnetzler, got into an argument with their mother, before shoving her through a window.

Schnetzler then attempted to hand each of the children a handgun and asked them to shoot him. Each of the children refused, causing Schnetzler to insult them.

Court documents say Schnetzler is charged with felonies for four counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon. Schnetzler is also charged with a misdemeanor for domestic assault in the fourth degree. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only, with no contact with the victims.

Schnetzler has a bond appearance hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 13 at Chariton County Circuit Court.
