
Gary W. Marsh passed away peacefully at his sister’s home in Glendale, AZ on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Gary was born in Independence, Missouri on January 5, 1948, son of James Albert and Dorothy Jean (Adams) Marsh. A graduate of William Chrisman High School, (Class of 1966), he went on to attend Central Missouri State University, receiving his Bachelors of Science degree with emphasis in Interior Design, in 1970. Gary was a member of the Episcopalian Church.
Initially hired as a design/apprentice with Sermon-Anderson, Inc. in Independence, he worked for several design firms before opening his own business, Marsh-LeFevbre & Associates in 1980 where he was lead designer until 2002. The same year, he purchased the Sermon-Anderson building and served as President and CEO of the company until 2008.
Gary was a member of American Society Interior Designers, serving on the local ASID board from 1982-1990, receiving the ASID Presidential Citation in 1987, and was president-elect Missouri/West Kansas chapter 1993. He received National Trust Conference, Design Excellence Awards, worked with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Historic Kansas City Foundation. He was listed as a noteworthy interior designer by Marquis Who’s Who, and was actively involved with Alliance Francaise de KC.
He is survived by his sister, Kyle Annette Marsh a niece, Leah Whitworth; and a great-nephew, Kristian Holland.
. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Marsh, mother, Dorothy Jean (Adams) Marsh, sister, Marla Jean (Marsh) Schneck, and brother-in-law, Steve Schneck.
The funeral will be held at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home on Friday, May 5, 2023 with visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m., and interment immediately following at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
