A Sedalia woman has been charged with felonies after a traffic stop on May 1, 2023.

According to the Pettis County Sheriff, a deputy observed a suspect vehicle commit several traffic violations before stopping the vehicle.

The deputy made contact with the driver, Samantha Clawson, who was agitated and aggressive. Clawson refused several orders from the deputy, before a K9 unit was utilized to conduct an open air sniff on the vehicle. The K9 alerted the presence of drugs in the vehicle, which gave deputies probable cause to search the vehicle.

Authorities located more than 42 grams of methamphetamine and $1,070 in cash. Clawson began resisting arrest and yelling at deputies. Clawson reportedly has two prior convictions for delivery of a controlled substance.

Court documents say Clawson is charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree and resisting arrest. Bond has been set at $100,000 cash or surety.

A counsel status hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
