
Shirley Ann Bertz, 83, died April 24, 2023 at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
She was born October 10, 1939 in Waverly, to Eric and Johanna (Harms) Heimsoth.
She was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on October 22, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waverly. On March 29, 1953 she was confirmed in the Christian faith and was fed the life-giving body and blood of Jesus, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, MO.
She was united in holy marriage to Henry Soendker on August 9, 1958 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, MO. They were blessed with 19 years of married life together when he preceded her in death on June 4, 1978.
She was united in holy marriage to Lester Bertz on November 24, 1988 in Lexington. They were blessed with 26 years of married life together when he preceded her in death on November 19, 2015.
Shirley enjoyed her flower gardens, jigsaw puzzles and quilting. She was passionate about serving her family and community. She was a member of the Vesper Guild at Grace Lutheran Church for 53 years.
In addition to her 2 husbands, she is preceded in death by all 10 of her siblings; sons-in law, Henry Jay and Rev. Brett Mueller; step daughter, Dr. Martha Bertz; grandchildren, Misty Reis and Lucas Koester.

3 Step Sisters and many nieces and nephews, 16 Grandchildren, and 15 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 10th from 6-8 pm at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 11th at 10:30 am at the church, officiated by Pastor Brian Thorson.
She will be buried in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
