A Sedalia man has been charged with several felonies after a shooting incident on Monday, May, 1, 2023.

According to a probable cause statement, surveillance footage revealed a suspect had approached the passenger side of a vehicle in a parking lot at a business on Highway M and a muzzle blast was observed.

The victim arrived by a personal vehicle at Bothwell Regional Health Center with a gunshot wounds to the chest.

Sedalia Police arrived at Bothwell and the victim identified the shooter by a nickname. Police believed the suspect, identified by the nickname, as Antonio Hurst to be the shooter due to previous encounters.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, authorities served a search warrant on an apartment Hurst had been currently living in. Authorities allegedly seized seized an AR15 rifle with the serial number ground off and a half loaded magazine.

According to court documents, Hurst has been charged with felonies for first degree assault, armed criminal action and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

No bond has been set.

Hurst was arraigned on Friday, May 5, 2023 and has a counsel status hearing scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
