A Warrensburg man has been charged with felonies for forgery after using fraudulent checks.

According to a probable cause statement, 44-year-old John Wendleton allegedly stole several checks and used them at a hardware store and Costco. Several of Wendleton’s purchases were around $500.

Authorities investigated video surveillance and purchase records to confirm Wendleton’s actions.

Court documents say Wendleton is charged with three felonies for forgery.

Wendleton is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
