Two Sedalia residents have been charged with multiple felonies involving drugs and weapons charges.

According to a probable cause statement, on May 9, a detective with the Missouri Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force served a search warrant on a residence in Sedalia.

The residents, identified as Joseph Luera and Shellie Zimmerschied were at the residence at the time. The detective allegedly located three long barrel firearms and a clear plastic zip lock bag containing several pills which later tested positive for the presence of Diazepam. The detective also allegedly located a digital scale with a white residue that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Luera has been charged with felonies for unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon and a controlled substance. Zimmerschied has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon and controlled substance.

Bond for Luera was set at $50,000 and Zimmerschied $25,000 cash or surety.

Both Luera and Zimmerschied were arraigned on Wednesday May, 10, 2023. Zimmerschied has a counsel status hearing scheduled for Tuesday, May, 23, 2023 and Luera has a counsel status hearing scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
