The Salisbury Board of Aldermen approved an ordinance authorizing a real estate transfer on Second Street to the Chariton County Historical Society during its meeting on Thursday, May 11, 2023. The approval gives the mayor authorization to sign on behalf of the city and the mayor and city clerk the ability to sign the deed.

The board also heard from the Main Street Organization about an opportunity for a $10,000 grant to create an outside activity in the downtown area. The organization would like to put a chosen activity in Millstone Plaza if awarded the grant. After board discussion, it was decided to have the organization bring a more detailed plan back for the June meeting.

In other news, an opportunity to participate in a pilot program launched by the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission was discussed. The program would allow the city to share a Code Enforcement Officer with other cities in the Green Hills region. Alderwoman Melanie Latondeer moved to express an interest on the basis of a minimum of 20 hours per month for the officer not including travel time. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
