A suspect being charged for a Benton County murder was located in Marshall.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a deceased woman was found at a residence in rural Warsaw on May 18.

The deceased woman was reportedly shot multiple times and bludgeoned in the upper body. The body was discovered at 54-year-old Robert Ashley Peterson’s residence.

Authorities located Peterson at a Marshall residence before taking him into custody on a Benton County warrant.

Charges of first degree murder and tampering with physical evidence are being brought against Peterson. He is currently being held in the Benton County Jail on a no bond warrant. Peterson may face further charges as the investigation continues.
