The Sedalia City Council approved an ordinance accepting a grant for the purchase of vests for the Sedalia Police Department during its meeting on Monday, May 15, 2023.

City Administrator Kelvin Shaw stated the grant is for rifle rated vests and the grant is for approximately one half of the cost.

The grant for the vests is $19,621 with a total cost of $38,906.

Shaw also stated the council approved accepting a grant for fifty percent of the cost of dual band police radios. The radios would be capable of communicating with other law enforcement agencies in the state as needed.
