A Sedalia woman was charged with two felonies in Pettis County on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

According to a probable cause statement, a Sedalia Police Officer was dispatched to a disturbance at a residence involving an alleged assault on a female. The female, identified as Angela Jackson stated to police that her step father had attempted to assault her and that she had gotten a hammer to fight him off. Jackson was later found to be intoxicated. The officer noticed the step father used a walker and told the officer Jackson had threatened kill him.

The officer located a hammer on a couch at the residence. During an interview, Jackson stated to the officer that she had held the hammer during the entire time of the disturbance, claiming self defense.

The officer later contacted the victim’s grand daughter, who stated Jackson had allegedly threatened her and two others with the hammer earlier in the day indicating Jackson as the alleged aggressor.

According to court documents, Jackson was charged with felonies for unlawful use of a weapon and harassment.

Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Jackson was scheduled to be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
