A Bates City woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Johnson County on Monday, June 5, 2023.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred when a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Samantha Anderson crossed the center line of the roadway and swerved back into the lane of traffic. A vehicle driven by Jose Hernandez-Garcia of Kansas City, Kansas struck Anderson’s vehicle on the drivers side.

Anderson was transported by Lee’s Summit EMS to Centerpoint Medical Center with serious injuries. Two juveniles, ages two and four in Anderson’s vehicle were also transported to Centerpoint, one with moderate injuries and one with minor. Hernandez-Garcia was also transported to Centerpoint with serious injuries.

The accident occurred at 1:35 p.m. on Route Z north of County Road 930 in Johnson County.
