The Marshall City Council approved a phase one environmental study for the old Fitzgibbon Hospital property during its meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

The study would be the first step in development of the property. City Administrator J.D. Kehrman stated to the council he did not foresee any problems but there is the possibility that an underground tank exists on the property that would trigger a continued study.

Terracon Consultants Inc. will proceed with the phase one study at a cost of $3,000.

In other news from the meeting, the council approved the appointment of Councilman Steve Cook to the Board of Building Code Enforcement.
